ABOUT SHARK DIVE:
Erth’s Shark Dive is an interactive theatrical experience that brings audiences up close and personal with the much-maligned predator of the sea. Groups of up to 25 people are taken through a darkened space to experience a shark dive without getting wet.
They are met by the show’s Host and asked to make a choice - "Play it Safe" or "Take a Risk". This will determine which soundtrack they experience through a set of silent disco headphones. They’re then led into a “decompression chamber” where they’re introduced to the world of the show, and given instructions. At which point they’re led into the darkened performance space and into a 2.5m x 2.5m shark cage.
There is a team of 4 puppeteers who populate the performance space with an array of smaller aquatic puppets (leafy sea dragons, stingray, 2D bull shark) before the hero puppet emerges - a 4m great white shark.
The group is then led into a separate “viewing chamber” to watch the next group in the cage through a scrim, while their headphones play an alternate soundscape. The whole experience lasts around 40 minutes per session. Sessions run every 15 minutes across a 3-hour window for a morning block of 10 sessions, with a break followed by an afternoon block of 10 more sessions, allowing up to 500 people through each day.
